Renters Insurance
Renters insurance is an agreement between you and your insurance company that covers your stuff, injuries at your place, lawsuits against you, etc. It doesn't cover the structure you live in—that's your landlord's responsibility.
It’s always a good idea to get renters insurance. Imagine surviving a fire in your residence and being left with none of your contents and the cost to purchase everything new, clothes, furniture, tools, electronics and more. It can be a year's earnings for some people. You would also need to pay for a new place to live while your residence is being repaired, which renter's insurance provides coverage under "loss of use."
Renters Insurance also provides coverage if you are sued for negligence, related to your residence or not. Also, most landlords that require you to carry renter's insurance as part of your rental agreement.
